Your Discover Credit Card Application: How to Qualify

Your Discover Credit Card Application: What to Expect
With a Discovery credit card, you are immediately entitled to a 1% cash back bonus on all purchases you make using the card. On top of this, Discover offers 5% cash back when you buy from any of the popular categories from over seventy participating partner brands. Its rewards listings change four times a year, so you could you’re your pick from a wide selection of gifts. Furthermore, you could also reap 5% cash back when you use your card to pay for gas, airline tickets, movie tickets, dinner at your favorite restaurant, or an outfit from Sears, for example.
Discover credit cards offer you more options on how to redeem your cash back bonus reward. It is up to you whether you want to credit this bonus to your account, have it deposited to your account, accept it as a check, or receive it in cash.
Your Discover Credit Card Application: Which Card is Right for You
One important thing to be aware of when applying for a Discover credit card is your spending habits.
Getting a credit card is very easy. Because of this, very few people take the time to think about the type of credit card they’re applying for. Consequently, most end up with a plastic that is entirely incompatible with the life that they lead, or the spending that they do.
In choosing which type of Discover credit card to apply for, ask yourself the following questions.
1. Do I spend impulsively on items, especially if these are what I consider must-haves?
2. Do I save a certain set percentage of any unexpected windfall? Or, do I spend everything in one go?
3. How do I plan to use my Discover credit card? Will it mostly be for shopping? Cash advances? Emergency spending?
Your answers to the questions above can help you evaluate which card best suits your spending and your finances.

I think the future of human-kind depends on our ability to fully understand the technology that goes into making a better pizza crust.

Just my opinion, but if an original creditor is talking about court, the chances of them actually doing so is pretty high.
Collection agencies threaten things like that as a matter of course (even though it is illegal to threaten when not actually planning on doing it), but original creditors rarely use idle threats.
Hiding probably will not help, they will more than likely just serve your last known address. Then get a default judgment against you.
If they do happen to get a judgment against you, the judgment will be valid for 10 years and then they can renew the judgment at the 10 year mark.
So, they will have plenty of time to wait.
As for filing bankruptcy, I would suggest speaking with an attorney.
I don't know the laws of California as far as bankruptcy and judgments so the following would just be speculation –
It may be possible if bankruptcy is filed before they sue or before a judgment is reached, it would stop the suit or judgment.
Or It may be possible to either have a judgment vacated or it may just put a permanant injunction on collecting the judgment
Again, I don't know Ca. laws on that and your best bet would be to speak with an attorney.
Also, I believe the 3rd poster is wrong about #4 in his post.

I would think most of them would be different. Call the phone number on the card and they will be able to tell you.

But they also have a product line which relies on confidence in the security of the system. Who wants to buy an identity theft prevention system which is already easily circumvented?
You’re not being tagged like cattle, you’re being sold a poorly implemented piece of shit that doesn’t live up to the guarantees it inspires. But since they pay the bills for MythBusters… yeah

Does the judgment show up on your credit report in the public records section?
You need to get a copy of the judgment and contact that lawyer/collection agency to work out a settlement. They may or may not be willing to work out a settlement. Since they already have a judgment, you may have to come up with a lot more than 50% to settle the debt. It will probably take longer than 60 days to resolve this.
Make sure you get a Satisfaction of Judgment filed with the court. It's the only way to get the judgment noted as paid.

I would say that offering to leave a $100 bill is pretty polite.

I saw a clip of this in some NWO RFID video, and I passed it off as just cut & paste quote mining. Looks like I was right. Not only does the full clip brilliantly show the effect of advertiser bias (television is entertainment, not education) – but it dispels the RFID fears that video was trying to promote by making the very point I did in response to that.
For tracking purposes, it’d only be a redundant reinforcement. It’s easily to circumvent, and the advertisers know that.

for small businesses usually VISA/MC fees (after everything) come up to 4-5% .. believe me! … so the business owners thinking they are saving by not accepting discover and especially AMEX are very stupid.
people with amex/discover in general spent more .. another reason to accept them.
and this guy was false advertising.

Demand in writing that you want verifiable proof that the credit card was issued in your name and recorded with you ss #.. Demand that Discover card send you the legal documents proving that you have responsibility for the account.. Check the fair credit reporting act and find the quidelines that a company must follow when reporting a debt.. Write a letter to experian and the others.. send it by certified mail.. where they have to sign for it.. demand that they get proof that the credit card was issued to you and that you have legal responsibility.. send it this month and send it next month and the next month if you have to.. send it certified each and everytime.. discover can claim it but the law says they have to be able to prove it.. hold their feet to the fire.. otherwise they will do nothing.. its your show.. put it on!
